I use WordPress to manage email updates. It makes it easy for you to set how often you want to receive emails.
Why do it this way instead of direct email?
Well, I’m better at updating my website than I am at writing marketing emails. I post things to the site that are interesting to me, as well as updates on my work, events, sales, etc. This way you get the interesting stuff more than the marketing stuff.
Why not use social media?
I’m gradually pulling out of active participation in social media. I only have so much room in my brain, and I don’t feel very creative when using social media. With the website, I feel like I’m actually creating something.
Updates will still get syndicated to places through RSS, but that will be robots doing my bidding, not me.
You can also follow this site through RSS by copying this address: https://jamesaaron.net/feed/ into your favorite RSS reader.
Here are instructions on how to add a feed to Thunderbird: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-subscribe-news-feeds-and-blogs
But lately I subscribe to most sites to get updates by email.
